Family is the most important part of my life without question. I am sure it is for all of us.
Photographs of the people we love are extremely special, providing vivid reminders of them and the happy times we have shared. Occasionally, we will look at photographs of the family members we have sadly lost.
The importance of family photographs, and the powerful memories that they evoke inside us has been very much in my mind lately. Conversations in recent days has brought home to me the fact that none of us knows what the future holds.
The global pandemic has of course affected millions of people worldwide, causing illness and loss. Life happens; people become ill, they have an accident or reach the end of their life. That is true, however it makes photographs even more important – and poignant. After all, sometimes we never know how valuable a photograph is until a person we love is no longer there.
I enjoy browsing through old family photographs, the cute baby pictures, the photos of parents and grandparents; fun holiday snaps and large family get togethers. They are incredibly special, providing treasured memories forever.
It is these memories that continue to inspire me as a photographer and first encouraged me to pursue this as a career. It is my job – and my passion.
