I want to say something that perhaps some of you may find interesting.
I LOVE black and white photography.
I find black and white photos incredibly elegant, and I like the way in which monochrome adds real emotion and mood. As a professional photographer, I believe that black and white is an inspiring, creative choice….and challenges us to focus on the form and shape when composing a portrait.
Black and white photography is of course timeless, too. When we look at photos from the olden days, of families, soldiers and young children we forget about the absence of colour and focus on the image.
As human beings our brains are incredibly creative! We do not necessarily need color to give us the complete picture, instead we enjoy the challenge of interpreting a photograph taken in black and white in different ways.
These are just some of the reasons why I include black and white photographs in all of my packages. I hand edit every image to ensure the true beauty of the person shines through, providing vivid contrasts in tone and colour.
Sometimes clients ask whether a photograph can be easily converted on a computer. However, the effect is not the same; the image is often flat, mute and grayish; even looking washed out.
A uniquely beautiful black and white photograph is the result of thinking about the detail of the composition, the lighting and how to achieve the best contrast…. Creating a gorgeous piece of artwork that has a wonderful, eternal quality.
